What is the single most thrilling thing that could happen to Lilly in her whole entire life? Her favorite teacher, Mr. Slinger, is getting married, and Lilly is going to be his flower girl! hi boys and girls this is misses you stick from Horace Mann and today I'm going to read for you a book by one of my favorite authors his name is Kevin Henkes and this is Lilly's big day 1 day lilies teacher mr. Slinger announced to the class that he was going to marry Miss Shotwell the school nurse Lily's Hartley she had always wanted to be a flower girl Lily in her room practice being a flower girl first she changed into something more appropriate then she held her head high and brightly and raised her eyebrows and turned her head from side to side and carried her hands probably in front of her and humped what's the length of her room every very 4th and 4th day of my life who is Lily's mother I'm pretending said Lily I'm a flower girl who is getting married as a father mr. smiley the Lily really said her mother really said her father really really he is going to marry Miss shot well he told he told us today and I'm going to be the flower girl you are said her father did mr. Slinger ask you said her mother not yet said Lily I bet time Lily's mother said there are so many students in your class mr. Slinger couldn't possibly pick just one to be a flower girl her father said it wouldn't be fair he said he will get married someday her father do you understand what we're trying to say asked her mother Lily nodded are you sure that's her father really not it again after her parents left the room Lily set I understand that I'm going to be the flower girl the next day of school during share time I've always wanted to be a flower girl even more than a surgeon or a diva a hairdresser the following afternoon when Mr Slinger had recess Duty what's a Handful of Weeds at the edge of the playground she carried the weeds proudly in front of her and walked very very slowly past mr. Slinger back and forth and morning after that Lily went to the light bulb laugh at the back of the classroom and she drew a self portrait mr. swimmer called Lily up to the desk during quiet reading time Lily he said I can tell you want to be a flower girl but unfortunately my niece who's going to be the flower girl at my wedding at least Hearts thank but Mr singer said I also want you to know that everyone in class will be invited to the wedding we can dance together it will be fun Lily stomach hurt this seems really important to you said Mr Slinger Lily's cheek turn pink said Mr Slinger I was just thinking that you might like to be gingers assistant you could stand with her and keep her company until she has to walk down the aisle you could make sure her dress isn't crooked she holds her flowers Marley Lilly considered this you could you could remind her to walk slowly said Mr Slinger Lily considered some more you could wear a corsage fedmyster Right Said Lily really that much Lily try to get excited about Ginger's assistant weddings wouldn't even exist without flower girl assistance she told her little brother Julius I have a social responsibility she told her parents and her grandma took her shopping for a new dress for the wedding and glamorous when it really sank in that she would not be walking down the aisle carrying a bouquet while watching Lily pretended her teddy bear with mr. Slinger in the uncooperative chair you can just stay there forever she said and at the wedding near mr. Slinger count down the days on the chalkboard one day closer to the biggest he would say one day closer to the biggest days gingers life I'm still at home in her room Lily Pratt she held her head high and smiled brightly and raised her eyebrows and turned her head from side to side and character has proudly in front of her and walk the length of her room Emily Skinner 4th and 4th the wedding finally arrived or a bad fever or not show up but she was there and she was already straight and she held her flowers properly are you sure you want to do this Ted Lilly yes say gender are you sure you're sure yes are you really sure you're short and hope that you're mine but she didn't it was time for the ceremony to begin the music swelled everyone stood the moment came for ginger to walk down the aisle Ginger didn't move Aqua Stone you can do it said Lily but Ginger credit everyone waited and waited and waited and no one knew what to do stopped Lily Lily's Ginger up here we go very slowly down the aisle she held her head high turn her friends from side to side when she reach mr. Slinger everyone clapped I knew this would be the biggest day of my life cuz Lily Lily was so excited she barely noticed the rest of the ceremony the reception was great fun and ask her if cake was her Lily coach ginger for the next time that she would be a flower girl I won't be with you at every wedding said Lily I won't be able to say every time now watching watches and forth back and forth very very slowly and soon and soon after that they were joined by Chester Wilson Victor Julius mr. Slinger Miss shot while many others it's interpretive dance the flower girl but there's something I have to do before we go set cheerleader to find Ginger one last time and when she she said get married you can be my flower girl me and
