Hello parents of the North Bergen School System: My name is Steven Somick and this is an update on the West Campus. The North Bergen Board of Education’s architects, engineers, construction management company and contractor for the High School West Additions/Renovations project have been working hard to get the new school building ready to be occupied for our staff and students. The Project has experienced some issues along the way related to supply chain issues as well as 3rd party site approvals which have caused delays to the overall project, but at this time we are reviewing our opening in September. More news will follow of the progress at the West Campus in the upcoming weeks.

The North Bergen school district has closed out the window project and the new generator project at the High School. Brick and mortar work is completed at Franklin School, Kennedy School and McKinley School.

Other capital improvements taking place right now in the District are bid preparation for electrical upgrades and HVAC upgrades in all the elementary schools by spring time and HVAC upgrades in the High School to follow. Every school building, classrooms, gyms, hallways and common areas will be undergoing a PSE&G supervised energy reducing LED light system upgrade district wide. This project is currently underway and will be a cost savings to the district and taxpayers.

The Board of Education has been fiscally mindful of our aged school buildings and continues to maintain and upgrade them to ensure a thorough and efficient education to every student in the district.
