Hello everyone this is George Solter Superintendent of schools in North Bergen School District. The North Bergen School District has been taking all the necessary preventative measures during the Coronavirus outbreak. I would like to reassure that we have no presumptive positives in our district and our schools are at no greater risk than any other in the state of New Jersey. Out of an abundance of caution and preventative measures will be closing schools for a week and we will re-evaluate at the end of next week. Tomorrow Friday 13th no children will be coming to school. Teachers will be finalizing the home instruction lessons. Monday March 16th will start home instruction for all students. Grades K-2 will have home instruction packets and will be required to keep a reading log of all stories that they have read. Grades 3 through 12 will log onto Google Classroom where they can see teacher assignments. Additionally we will have home instruction work on the website for grades 3 through 12.  Teachers will be available via Google Classroom, Class Dojo and other apps used in the classroom or via email. All students who receive free or reduced lunch will be able to pick up a bagged lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be able to be picked up at North Bergen High School, Lincoln Annex, Franklin school and Kennedy School. Students may go to the most convenient site. If you don't have access to the Internet a home instruction packet will be available to be picked up at a lunch Distribution Center. Once again I would like to reiterate this closure is out of precaution for the safety and well-being of our students and staff. I will be sending more information during this closure through our website, emails, text and automated calls. As a reminder please wash your hands, keep aware of your surroundings and if you feel ill please avoid contact with others and contact your health provider.
