Hello everyone this is Doctor George Solter, Superintendent of the North Bergen School District. We are now in the month of March and I would like to give you some important information on what is going on in our schools.

First, March is Women’s History Month and specifically Wednesday, March 8th celebrates International Women's Day. We recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. This day also focuses on a call to action for accelerating gender parity by setting agendas and goals to achieve these targets. Our classes also celebrate the contributions of many different women in all aspects of life. We will do this by reading stories, looking at historical videos, and projects that accentuate achievements.

Second, sometime this month we will be sending home a brochure highlighting the future of our school district. We will sight the many upgrades to our elementary schools, additional work that will be done at North Bergen High School, and our progress at the new Junior High School West Campus. Please look for it to be sent home from your child’s school.

Third, we are now entering our spring sports season which includes Baseball, Softball, track and field, Boy’s Tennis, and Boy’s Volleyball. The schedule for each sport can be found on our website with dates, times, and locations of the athletic contests. We would love for you to show support for our student-athletes throughout the spring season.

Lastly, there have been many incidents throughout the State of New Jersey and across the nation of false situations commonly called SWATTING. Calls are being made scaring people that their child is kidnapped or in danger. We want you to be aware that this is going on. If you receive a call of this nature please give your child’s school a call immediately. We will confirm that your child is safe and get the North Bergen Police involved. It is unfortunate that we have to go through this and put many parents in a fearful situation.
