Hello everyone this is Dr. George Solter, Superintendent of the North Bergen School District.

First and foremost, I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year. Each year it is a common practice to create resolutions where we strive to better ourselves in some way compared to the prior year. Many of these resolutions tend to not last long and are often broken before the end of January. Please make every effort to work with your children on keeping focused on one goal to improve themselves.

Please look at the parent portal to view your child’s academic progress. As we come up on the end of the second marking period, I encourage each of you to have discussions with your child's teachers and determine how we can create a path towards improvement. These are important conversations so we can work together for success.

Additionally, I would like to give you an update on the progress of the West Campus Project. There is a lot of activity by many different trade groups preparing to complete the construction. There have also been many meetings to create the operations plan for the new school. We will be scheduling parent meetings at each of the local schools to present our plan and discuss any questions or concerns. We will post the schedule on our website, send out via automated calls, and post dates and times through our teachers’ Google Classroom pages. I look forward to having these informative conversations so you can better understand how our school district will be moving forward to better serve our students.

During the month of January, the State of New Jersey celebrates the efforts of all School Board Members.  I would like to thank our School Board Members for all they do for the children of North Bergen.

Lastly, this Monday, January 16th, we will be celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will be reading about and discussing his accomplishments in our classes. He advocated for racial and social justice through non-violent methods. Please take some time to reflect on helping the community in some way on this day.
