Hello everyone this is Dr. George Solter, Superintendent of the North Bergen School District. We are now into the second month of the school year and I have some important items to tell you about.

First, we have just completed celebrating Hispanic Heritage month in our schools with many activities and programs.

Second, we are at the middle of marking period 1. Mid marking reports are available on the parent portal. If you are having trouble getting on to the parent portal please make sure you contact your school office to receive a printed copy of the mid marking period report and get access to the parent portal. It is very important for you to understand how your child is doing in school and correct any issues through interventions.

Third, the Month of October is where we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness. We have many activities going on to bring awareness to the students and staff of our district.  I would like to congratulate Mya Rivera for winning the art contest sponsored by the North Hudson Regional Fire Department. Her artwork is on posters around the schools and on T-shirts for sale by the NHRFD where the proceeds will go towards Breast Cancer Research. Congratulations to Mya and the teachers of the Art Department at North Bergen High School.

Fourth, there are many Title 1 programs in our schools either after school or on Saturdays. These programs are designed by the teachers, administrators, and suggestions from you the parents. Please contact your child's school to enroll them in these programs. Additionally, we have parent programs on Saturday mornings that will help you understand what is being taught in the schools.

Lastly, please stay connected and look for news on our website or other social media outlets.  Also, please make sure we have your correct contact information in the parent portal.  As always, please stay healthy.
