Hello everyone. This is Dr. George Solter, Superintendent of the North Bergen School District. We are now into the month of November and have been conducting in-person education for two months. I want to thank everyone for your patience and hard work as we move through the school year. We have put many safeguards in place to prevent the spread of COVID and thus far have been managing positive cases.

I have some important information concerning the roll out of the vaccines for our children ages 5 to 11. We will be posting documents including consent forms, registration forms, and general information, on our website in an area dedicated to COVID vaccines. There will be a question in the Realtime parent portal asking if you want to schedule an appointment for your child in the school. You can also call the main office of your child's school to request an appointment.  When we administer the vaccine in your child’s school you need to be present. However, the North Bergen Department of Health will also have vaccine clinics around the town. All dates and times can be found on the flyer posted on our website.

We will be celebrating Veterans Day this Thursday, November 11th. Each year we celebrate the members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and the Coast Guard. Please keep all of our members of our armed forces in your thoughts as they serve our country.

Also, later this month we will celebrate Thanksgiving. The holiday started to give thanks for the harvest from the previous year. We now give thanks for what we have and look to help those less fortunate. We at the North Bergen Board of Education would like to wish everyone a very healthy and happy Thanksgiving holiday.

As we complete the month of November we will be issuing report cards showing evidence of your child’s performance in the curriculum. For grades K to 4, there will be a Standards Based Report Card and for grades 5 to 12 there will be a traditional report card with Letter Grades. Your child’s report card can be found on the Parent Portal of Realtime. If you need a paper copy please call the school to get one. If you need help accessing the parent portal please call the school for assistance. We will be having a parent’s night where you can have conferences with your child’s teachers to discuss his or her performance. This is your opportunity to discuss how improvements can be made as well as any other issues. Details on the process for parent’s night will come out shortly.

Lastly, we will soon be updating the look of our website in order to make it more parent friendly. As always please stay safe.
