Hello everyone this is Doctor George Solter Superintendent of the North Bergen School District.  First and foremost I would like to wish everyone a belated Safe and Happy New Year.  
We are currently working on a schedule to move towards reopening for in-person education.  There are many factors that need to be assessed before we make the sift to Phase 2 and beyond.  These factors include positivity rates, ability to get vaccines, staffing, and which students would like to remain on virtual instruction.  At the present time we are looking for some sort of move to in-person education in the third marking period.  More information on when we will move to other phases and what the process will look like will be published at the end of the month.
Additionally, we are conducting benchmark assessments in Math and English Language Arts.  We need to evaluate where we are and how we can improve student understanding of the standards.  The benchmark does not count towards the marking period grade or is used against your child.  Please make sure your child takes the assessment seriously to get a true picture of his or her understanding.
Monday we are celebrating Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. Day where there will be no classes.  Traditionally, this has become a day of service to the community.  Unfortunately, due to the COVID outbreak this will not be able to happen this year.  Mr. Brady the Supervisor of Social Studies has given the teachers important information for this day.  
Also, lunches for next week will be given out on Tuesday, January 19th and Thursday, January 21st.  We will return to Monday and Thursday distribution the week after.
Please make sure you are logging into the Realtime parent portal to get important information concerning your child.  If you are having issues logging into the parent portal you need to call the school for assistance.
Lastly, we have a policy against students’ video or audio taping the teachers during class lessons.  Because we are virtual at this time that rule carries to online instruction.  I will be posting the policy on our website.
