The North Bergen Board of Education is now accepting applications for the following school position:
Behavior Specialist Position
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- Support school staff in assessing children using ABLLS VB MAPP, and QABF MAS FAST and Functional Behavior Assessment as needed
- Support school staff in developing and implementing skills acquisition, social skills programs (FBAs
and FAAs) - Develop and implement positive behavior plans and strategies (PBSP, PBIP)
- Provide ongoing consultation to classroom teachers and support staff in supporting students
- Train and coach school staff current best practices in applied behavior analysis as it applies to school
based programming - Collaborate with other school staff members regarding the learners progress through
interdisciplinary team meetings, record review and informal discussions as appropriate - Comply with all confidentiality protocols as needed
- Monitor proper implementation of behavior analytic principles throughout designated classrooms
- Participate in education and training programs as designated by the school district
- Plan training workshops for school staff, parents and caregivers as needed
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Appropriate NJ State certification
- Current certification as a BCBA with the Behavior Analytic Certification Board in good standing. Individuals who have recently completed their Master’s Degree and are waiting to take the BACB
exam will be considered on an individual basis - Maintain CEU requirement and BCBA credential with Behavior Analytic Certification Board (BACB)
- Training and clinical experience in applying behavior analytic principles to a school based
environment - Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders preferred
- Two years of experience with school based programming preferred
Terms of Employment: 12 months
