Title I Saturday Program - Hudson TV Video

North Bergen BOE Offers Saturday Help For Students In K-6

There’s a Title 1 program offered by the North Bergen Board of Education on Saturdays for students in grades K through 6 needing additional help in reading, writing and math.  It’s voluntary and it’s unique because parents also attend the classes.

The program receives federal funding for supplies and materials, and the teachers, all of whom work in the district’s elementary schools, do get paid.  The unique aspect is that parents attend workshops on the same days as their children are attending the hands on classes.

This enables parents to have a better understanding of what their children are learning, and as a result, they can spend time at home helping the children with their studies using materials provided by the district through the Title 1 funding.

In addition to reading, writing and mathematics, the students are exposed to art classes, technology and musical theater.  A total of 450 students are signed up this year.  The classes run for two hours beginning at 9 am every Saturday from November through April.
