The North Bergen School district utilizes a wide variety of print and digital resources as main and supplemental instructional tools to help meet the needs of each student as set forth by the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.   Programs are continuously reviewed and updated to keep up with the dynamic needs of all learners in North Bergen.
 
 

ReadyGEN (Grades K-5)

ReadyGEN is an integrated and well-balanced approach to reading and writing instruction for Grades K-6 classrooms. Authentic texts with modeling and teacher-directed activities drive learning and motivate readers. Students read authentic literary and informational texts. Instruction focuses on reading, writing, speaking, and listening in response to authentic texts.

 

Wilson Fundations (Grades K-2)

As a recognized leader in multisensory, structured language programs, Wilson brings more than a decade of systematic and explicit instruction to the K-3 classroom. Based on the Wilson Reading System® principles, Wilson Fundations® provides research-based materials and strategies essential to a comprehensive reading, spelling, and handwriting program.

 

 

myPerspectives (Grades 6-8)

myPerspectives is a brand new English language arts curriculum for Grades 6–12 that values the perspective of the learner, collectively and individually, and provides next-gen learning experiences that promote higher achievement and develop the competencies needed for college and career readiness. Interactive learning blends print and technology in a student-centered, teacher-inspired classroom. This dynamic Pearson program creates an interactive, engaging, and relevant learning environment through readings, meaningful activities, and purposeful performance tasks. myPerspectives encourages social collaboration as well as student ownership of learning through goal setting, choice, and reflection.

Cultivate students’ voices and perspectives. Open a world of ideas using literary and informational texts to prepare students for college and careers.

 

 

Scholastic StoryWorks Jr. (Grades 2-3)

This literary magazine contains authentic texts to help students in key reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language domains. It provides essential practice in skills such as close reading and critical thinking, main idea, cause/effect, text evidence, compare/contrast, making inferences, and paragraph writing.  Nonfiction features focus on curriculum-related science and social studies topics, feature academic and domain-specific vocabulary, and nurture higher-level thinking and analytic reading, writing, and grammar skills.

 

Scholastic StoryWorks (Grade 4)

StoryWorks is a thrilling multigenre magazine that builds essential ELA skills. Every issue features compelling and complex texts in a wide range of genres, from narrative nonfiction to fiction to drama.  Rigorous activities and online resources (life videos and alternate reading levels) support every text to build the skills students need most.  Each student receives a desk copy and digital access to this magazine.
