Gifted & Talented Program
Philosophy

Over two thousand years ago, Plato observed that a state's most valuable asset is its gifted leaders.  Thomas Jefferson stated that a free world could not survive without trained leadership of its best minds.  Today, the need in all societies for trained inventive minds is greater than any time in history.  The most valuable investment any society can make is the development of the full potential of its human resources.

It is incumbent upon a school system to identify its gifted and talented students and provide educational opportunities which are appropriate to students' special needs and abilities.

The North Bergen School District recognizes the necessity of a qualitatively differentiated curriculum to accommodate the unique learning styles of gifted and talented students.  We recognize the value of constant positive stimulation through educational alternatives as enrichment, acceleration, special grouping, and a specially designed program.  Such stimulation should serve to encourage the individual desire for excellence and the achievement of maximum potential.
