Emergency Closures, Delayed Opening & Early Dismissal

If it becomes necessary during the course of the school year to close school early or to delay opening because of inclement weather or other emergencies, the following will occur:  

• an announcement will be posted on the district website: www.northbergen.k12.nj.us as well as on the following television stations: Channel 12, Fox -5, NBC -4  and WABC -7 
• an automated notification will be sent via telephone call, email and/or text (SMS) message to contact numbers registered for notification purposes. Parents/guardians that are not receiving these alerts, should contact the main office of their child's school to verify the information on file is correct for notification calls, text message, and email. 
• Parents are urged not to call the North Bergen Police Headquarters for information concerning the closing of schools or a delayed opening since these calls tie up telephone lines which are needed to be free for use on police matters and other emergencies.
