Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to share that our schools are beginning to introduce Restorative Circles as part of our efforts to create a stronger, safer, and more supportive school community.
What are Restorative Circles?
Restorative Circles are guided group conversations where students, teachers, and sometimes administrators sit together in a circle to talk, listen, and learn from one another. These circles give everyone a chance to speak openly and honestly while others listen with respect. They can be used to build community, talk through challenges, or help resolve conflicts in a positive way.
Why are we using them?
Our goal is to build stronger relationships across our school community. We want students to feel safe, valued, and heard. Restorative Circles help students express themselves, understand others, and develop trust. They also encourage peer connections, teamwork, and empathy.
By using this approach, we hope to create a school environment where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, supporting one another, and working through problems in a respectful and healthy way.
What this means for your child
As we begin implementing Restorative Circles, your child may participate in classroom discussions where everyone has a chance to talk and listen. These circles are not disciplinary—they are meant to build community, strengthen communication skills, and help students form positive relationships with their peers and teachers.
We believe this will help us continue to grow a welcoming, caring, and connected school community for all North Bergen students.

Nos complace informarles que nuestras escuelas están implementando los Círculos Restaurativos como parte de nuestros esfuerzos para crear una comunidad escolar más sólida, segura y solidaria.
¿Qué son los Círculos Restaurativos?
Los Círculos Restaurativos son conversaciones grupales guiadas donde estudiantes, docentes y, en ocasiones, administradores se reúnen para hablar, escuchar y aprender unos de otros. Estos círculos brindan a todos la oportunidad de expresarse de manera abierta y honesta, mientras los demás escuchan con respeto. Se utilizan para fortalecer el sentido de comunidad, abordar desafíos o ayudar a resolver conflictos de manera positiva.
¿Por qué los usamos?
Nuestro objetivo es construir relaciones más sólidas en toda nuestra comunidad escolar. Queremos que los estudiantes se sientan seguros, valorados y escuchados. Los Círculos Restaurativos ayudan a los estudiantes a expresarse, comprender a los demás y desarrollar confianza. También fomentan las conexiones entre compañeros, el trabajo en equipo y la empatía.
Con este enfoque, esperamos crear un ambiente escolar donde los estudiantes se sientan cómodos compartiendo sus ideas, apoyándose mutuamente y resolviendo problemas de forma respetuosa y saludable.
¿Qué significa esto para su hijo/a?
Al comenzar a implementar los Círculos Restaurativos, su hijo/a podrá participar en conversaciones en clase donde todos tengan la oportunidad de hablar y escuchar. Estos círculos no son disciplinarios; su objetivo es construir comunidad, fortalecer las habilidades de comunicación y ayudar a los estudiantes a formar relaciones positivas con sus compañeros y maestros.
Creemos que esta práctica nos permitirá seguir desarrollando una comunidad escolar acogedora, solidaria y conectada para todos los estudiantes de North Bergen.
