Hello everyone this is Doctor George Solter, Superintendent of the North Bergen
School District.
We are coming up on the Memorial Day weekend and I would like to remind
everyone to keep in your thoughts all of the service members who have made the
greatest sacrifice. Additionally, we should remember all of the first responders,
nurses, doctors, medical support people and essential workers who have lost their
lives. Former President Barack Obama said, “Our nation owes a debt to its fallen
heroes that we can never fully repay, but we can honor their sacrifice”.
I also have some important points of information as we are closing out the school
year.
First, we had three unused snow days so the last day of school will be June 19th
instead of June 24th .
Second, guidance from the New Jersey Department of Education at this time has
directed that all graduations are to be virtual. We will be preparing for the best way
to celebrate our students’ success in a safe and appropriate manner. The principals
and teachers will be contacting you about graduations.
Third, we will continue virtual school through the end of the academic year. We ask
that you, the parents, please make sure your children are working on the devices
and submitting all materials to the teachers. We need your support to make sure
the children are successful.
Lastly, I want to wish all of you health and safety. Please try to take some time this
weekend to commemorate the holiday, but most of all keep in your thoughts the
many heroes we have lost.
